Clinical Guidelines

The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, in partnership with Johns Hopkins University, has published clinical guidelines related to the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and substance use. While they align with the national CDC guidelines, our evidence-based guidelines developed by expert New York State clinicians are designed for practical use by non-specialist care providers.

Specific focus areas include HIV testing and acute HIV, antiretroviral therapy, primary HIV care, perinatal HIV care, HIV pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP), hepatitis care, sexually transmitted infections, and substance use (including opioid use).
